Once the extent of the cemetery had been defined and the fieldwork had been largely completed, an open evening was held for the inhabitants of Cumwhitton village to extend thanks for their discretion whilst the project was taking place. The event, which included re-enactment enthusiasts from the Jorvicingi Living History group dressed as Vikings demonstrating the use of weaponry from the period, was enjoyed by over 50 local people.
